Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) JOVIAL (R Fourie) and REIGN OF HONOUR (R Danielson) jumped slow, losing one length. b) RED SKYLINE (A Andrews) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, the saddle on PROTAGONIST (C Bantam), which pulled hard in the early stages, slipped forward, resulting in Jockey C Bantam allowing this colt to race to the front of the field and being unable to fully assist PROGAGONIST in the straight. b) JOVIAL (R Fourie) proved difficult to settle in the early and middle stages. c) RED SKYLINE (A Andrews) faltered on the turn and thereafter gave ground to the field quickly. Jockey A Andrews eased this gelding out of the race and dismounted before the finish. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine RED SKYLINE. As a result of this incident, Jockey A Andrews was unable to weigh in. In terms of Rule 66.2 the Stewards were satisfied that RED SKYLINE carried the correct weight. d) The saddle on TAKE A MULLIGAN (C Orffer) slipped back in running. This was confirmed by a Stipendiary Steward. e) CALL TO UNITE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised.
