THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SILKY JET (G Lerena) was stubborn to load. b) PIXIE IN LOVE (*S Hlengwa) and TRIP TO NEBRASKA (S Moodley) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Shortly after the start PIXIE IN LOVE (*S Hlengwa) and CHICHICASTENANGO (A Mgudlwa) came together and brushed. b) From the 900m WESTOCKMARKETBORSE (R Fourie) raced wide around the field to take up a leading position which resulted in this filly compounding in the concluding stages. c) FAIRY TRIPP (C Habib) was hanging in from the 350m. d) SWEETER THAN HONEY (*K J Lihaba) was hanging in from the 200m. e) Apprentice S Hlengwa reported that his saddle on PIXIE IN LOVE slipped backwards in the running, resulting in him being unable to fully assist his mount in the latter stages. This was confirmed by the Veterinary Surgeon. f) In view of the performance of TRIP TO NEBRASKA (S Moodley) (10.45 lengths, 40/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. g) PIECE BY PIECE (*R A Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
