THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start Jockey JP van der Merwe felt something amiss with FALLO ANCORA and attempted to ease this mare out of the race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) For a short distance leaving the 300m RAINBOW LORIKEET (M Winnaar) raced in restricted galloping room between PRINCESS IZZY (G van Niekerk) and QUERANDI (R Danielson). c) The saddles on BORN READY (C Orffer) and RAINBOW LORIKEET (M Winnaar) slipped back in running. This was confirmed by a Stipendiary Steward. d) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with MISTY CLIFFS and he did not persevere with his riding in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Jockey L Mxothwa (FATAL GEM) was dislodged in the pull-up area without incident, was reunited with his mount and weighed back in as per normal procedure. f) FATAL GEM, the dead-heat winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer B Crawford was advised.
