THE STARTER REPORTED: a) During the loading process, KISS OF FIRE (*K J Lihaba) became restless and kicked the back gates resulting in AURUM DAMSEL (*R A Venniker) becoming restless and breaking through the front gates. Trainer P P Labuschagne was advised to reschool KISS OF FIRE prior to her next engagement (GT). b) SUMIKO (C Habib) stumbled leaving the stalls. c) SLANJ A VA (D De Gouveia) and SOUND MACHINE (P Mxoli) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SLANJ A VA (D De Gouveia) commenced to give ground to the field from the 300m. b) Apprentice K J Lihaba reported that he felt something amiss with KISS OF FIRE in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) In view of the performance of SHINE IN MEMPHIS (*S Sosibo), (distance 19,25 lengths, betting 17/2), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) SPIRITED GIRL (*T Mayhew), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Mayhew advised (MS).
