THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PYROMANIAC (R Fourie) was slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly before the finish line, STAR COIN (K A Brewer) and CRIMSON KING (K Matsunyane) came together and brushed. b) Jockey K A Brewer was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he, as the rider of STAR COIN, misused his crop by striking this gelding more than twelve times (16) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey K A Brewer signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R10,000 was imposed. c) PERFECT WITNESS (D De Gouveia), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer T Dawson, acting on behalf of Trainer C Dawson, was advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) SHANGO: Jockey L Mxothwa weighed out at 56,4kg, 0,5kg over the carded weight.
