THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BATTLEGROUND (C Zackey) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 700m, BATTLEGROUND (C Zackey) was bumped out by RULE BOOK (C Habib), which rolled out marginally. b) MONSIEUR CHEVELLE (P Mxoli) hung out from the 200m. c) Jockey D Schwarz reported that he felt something amiss with AFRAAD in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. d) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning AFRAAD, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this gelding is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer P P Labuschagne was advised. e) RULE BOOK (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A G Laird advised (LK). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) CORAPI: Apprentice D B Geerthsen weighed out at 51,4kg only claiming 1kg of his 1,5kg apprentice allowance as declared.
