THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DEFINING MOMENT (*S Sosibo), RAINBOW THIEF (L Mxothwa), BEYOND THE RUNWAY (M Mjoka) and KABON KAPI (J Gates) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) BEYOND THE RUNWAY (M Mjoka) was hanging in from the 300m. b) At the 100m IDABELLE (M Yeni) had to be steadied momentarily when close to the heels of GLOBAL RUSH (R Danielson), which shifted out away from the crop. Jockey R Danielson appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol film and advised that the Stewards expect him to straighten his mounts sooner than he had on this occasion. c) In view of the performance of DEFINING MOMENT (*S Sosibo), which commenced to give ground to the field from the 700m and finished tailed off, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) In view of the performance of RAINBOW THIEF (L Mxothwa), which was not persevered with in the latter stages, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. e) Jockey JP van der Merwe was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the carded weight on JAMBO SANA, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with the Trainer. Jockey JP van der Merwe signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2 000.00. f) GLOBAL RUSH, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised.
