Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:
a)	TAEGAN'S CHAMP (D Schwarz) was stubborn loading.
b)	VIVA SPIRIT (C Zackey) was slow into stride.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED:
a)	Leaving the 400m, SLINKY MAPIMPI (*M K Katjedi) was squeezed out when awkwardly placed between the inside running rail and RUN FOR COVER (M Yeni), which was carried in by LAUGHING WILLIAM (C Maujean), which in turn was carried in by CARE TAKER (*D B Geerthsen), which hung in from the 500m. 
b)	In the concluding stages, WYZEACT (S Khumalo), which shifted in away from the crop and was corrected outwards, and TAEGAN'S CHAMP (D Schwarz), which hung in from the 400m, came together and bumped resulting in both horses becoming unbalanced. 
An Objection was lodged by Trainer C Spies, on behalf of the second placed horse, WYZEACT (S Khumalo), against the winner, TAEGAN'S CHAMP (D Schwarz), on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages.  The Board, after giving regard to the evidence presented by the relevant parties, taking into consideration the movement from both horses and the distance of 1.25 lengths at the finish line, was of the opinion that this incident had not affected the result of the race and therefore overruled the Objection and allowed the Judges result to stand. Trainer C Spies's deposit was refunded
c)	TAEGAN'S CHAMP (D Schwarz), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer F P Habib advised (MS).
	
JOCKEY CHANGES:
a)	NYALI BEACH was ridden by Jockey J Penny (declared 12 December 2023 at 10H36).

RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER:
a)	REAL RELIEF raced equipped with cheek pieces (declared 11 December 2023 at 08H24).
b)	RUN FOR COVER raced with a tongue tie on (declared 11 December 2023 at 09H39).
