THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WAZ WOUTER (S Khumalo) was examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn. b) FINAL EDITION (R Fourie), PEMBROKE (C Maujean) and AFRICA'S ROCK (D Schwarz) were stubborn loading. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The start of this race was delayed due to the late scratching of WAZ WOUTER (S Khumalo) (Betting 33/20) to allow the betting public time to restructure their bets. b) Jockey M Mjoka was unbalanced and briefly lost his left-side stirrup iron when KUZNETSOV stumbled shortly after the start. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey R Khathi was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of RUSSIAN EMPIRE he misused his crop by striking RUSSIAN EMPIRE more than 12 times (16) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey R Khathi signed an admission of guilt and was fined R10 000,00. d) PEMBROKE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised.
