THE STARTER REPORTED: a) IMPERIOUS DESTINY (R Fourie) and RECKLESS LOVE (C Habib) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) LE PREMIERE (C Maujean) jumped awkwardly leaving the starting stalls and unbalancing Jockey C Maujean. b) At the 800m SIGN OF FATE (S Moodley) was switched out and allowed to improve to take up a forward position shortly before entering the straight. c) At approximately the 1400m BOSNAY (S Veale) was carried in marginally by MANIC MONDAY (*K J Lihaba) which rolled in and was immediately corrected. Simultaneously LE PREMIERE (C Maujean) commenced to over race and shifted out. This resulted in SLEEK AS SILK (M Yeni) being tightened and having to ease. Apprentice K J Lihaba appeared before the board with regard to this incident and was advised to ensure that he is sufficiently clear of other runners when shifting ground in races in future. d) STATUS QUO (T Godden), BOSNAY (S Veale), and IMPERIOUS DESTINY (R Fourie) over raced in the early and middle stages. e) In view of the performances of IMPERIOUS DESTINY (R Fourie), (6.15 lengths behind and 6/1 in the betting) and RECKLESS LOVE (C Habib), (6.55 lengths behind and 16/1 in the betting). The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. f) SIGN OF FATE (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer R A Hill advised (NS).
