Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HIGH VELOCITY (A Mgudlwa) was restless in the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) Apprentice M Katjedi (WOODSTOCK FESTIVAL) completed a satisfactory qualifying ride. b) At approximately the 750m, NORTHERN WARRIOR (*R Venniker) clipped the heels of STAND BY ME (AUS) (M Yeni) which commenced to over-race and switched out to avoid running onto the heels of WOODSTOCK FESTIVAL (*M Katjedi). c) Jockey W Kennedy reported that he felt something amiss with VEGAS GOLD at approximately the 300m and as a result eased his mount out the race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer A Wright will be advised to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of this gelding on return to stables. d) Jockey M Yeni reported that STAND BY ME (AUS) did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer D Campbell will be advised to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of this gelding on return to stables. e) PURPLE POWAHOUSE (K de Melo), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A Wright advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) WOODSTOCK FESTIVAL raced with cheek pieces (advised 13.02.22/15h25). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) VEGAS GOLD : Nothing obvious detected on the trot and blowing. b) STAND BY ME (AUS) : Nothing obvious detected on the trot and returned post-race having cast the right front shoe. c) NORTHERN WARRIOR : Cut into right hind. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
