Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) TRIED AND TRUE (M Mjoka) was stubborn loading. b) CHELSEA BLUE (K Minnie) was nervous in the stalls, jumped awkwardly and thereafter was slow into stride. c) BEYOND THE RUNWAY (D Schwarz) jumped inwards and bumped ERROLS LEGACY (*KJ Lihaba) leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) MY AMI BEACH (C Maujean) was examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon upon leaving the parade ring, found to be not striding out on the left front and withdrawn. b) TRIED AND TRUE (M Mjoka) pulled hard in the early and middle stages. c) FOR ALL WE KNOW (R Fourie) and TRIED AND TRUE (M Mjoka) made contact leaving the 100m when both horses shifted ground marginally. d) Leaving the 300m MISTY CLIFFS (C Habib), which initially rolled inwards, and KILMONIVAIG (R Danielson) brushed. Thereafter, leaving the 200m, KILMONIVAIG (R Danielson) shifted out slightly and brushed MISTY CLIFFS (C Habib). Jockey C Habib called for a race review regarding this incident and after viewing the patrol film, took no further action. e) Jockey D Ashby reported that he felt something amiss with VENUS DE MILO leaving the 300m and eased her out of the race. This filly was attended to in the pull-up area by the course Veterinary Surgeon. f) TRIED AND TRUE (M Mjoka) returned with a unilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr K Spargo) g) METAR, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised. (LM) h) TRIED AND TRUE, the fifth-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer L Gila was advised. (LM) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) ZARIYAH (M Yeni) raced in club colours - Stewards permission RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER a) Nil THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) VENUS DE MILO - lame left front. A veterinary certificate and a grass gallop are required prior to acceptance. Rule 49.7 applied. b) TRIED AND TRUE - Post-race distress &unilateral epistaxis (right-side). Suspended 60 days.
