THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	KING OF NUMBERS (C Orffer) was examined at the start by the course Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn.	
b)	CONNERY (R Danielson) and MELA STRENGTH (A Andrews) were restless in the stalls.
c)	MELA STRENGTH (A Andrews) and THREE ANCHOR BAY (C Bantam) jumped slow, losing one length.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, PRINCE OF TIBET cast its right front shoe on the way to the start which had to be replaced, causing a delay.
b)	CONNERY (R Danielson), which pulled hard in the early and middle stages, took an awkward stride approaching the 600m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
c) 	In view of the performance of THE NIGHT FERRY (JP van der Merwe), which over raced in the early stages, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d)	Jockey B Fayd'Herbe reported that PRINCE OF TIBET felt uncomfortable in its action and did not respond to his riding in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e)	SOLOMONS SEAL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AE Sands was advised. (TJ)
