THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) SECOND BASE (M Yeni) proved reluctant to canter to the start and had to be led by a Handler. Trainer R Klaasen was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future, he may be suspended. b) STAR COIN (K A Brewer) proved reluctant to canter to the start and had to be led by a Handler. Trainer A G Laird was advised that should this gelding behave in a similar manner in future, he may be suspended. c) ELECTRIC GOLD (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A P Peter advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) GOOD COUNCIL was ridden by Apprentice S Sosibo (declared 23 December 2023 at 08H07). Jockey D Schwarz was charged with a contravention of Rule 55.4 in that he failed to weigh out at the correct carded weight on GOOD COUNCIL, or at the higher weight confirmed in his engagement with Trainer S T Pettigrew, which necessitated a change of Rider.
