Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FLY TO RIO (R Fourie) was restless in the stalls. b) MOTHERSHIP (C Orffer) fly-jumped leaving the stalls, struck its head on the top of the stalls, lost one length and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After being slow to begin, Jockey C Orffer reported that he felt something amiss with MOTHERSHIP, which trailed the field throughout. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. b) Between the 100m and the finish OZARK (R Danielson) was unable to secure a clear run between the outside running rail and LIKETHECLAPPERS (G van Niekerk). c) The saddle on FLY TO RIO (R Fourie) slipped back in running. This was confirmed by a Stipendiary Steward. d) In view of the performance of BIG POPPA (JP van der Merwe), Trainer PP Kruyer was advised to report back should he find anything amiss with this gelding on his return to the stables. e) Trainer PP Kruyer was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he failed to have available the registered colours of the owner/s of BIG POPPA. Trainer PP Kruyer signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R250,00. f) NO APOLOGIES, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised. (WM) g) INCREDIBILL, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer VH Marshall was advised. (DD) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) LEGAL CHITCHAT raced without cheek pieces and with blinkers (declared 07h35 on 20231227) b) BIG POPPA (JP van der Merwe) raced in club colours.
