THE STARTER REPORTED: a) HIGHVELD STORM (D Schwarz) stumbled leaving the stalls and thereafter was slow into stride. b) CALANTHA (R Fourie) jumped inwards leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey K Matsunyane reported that SACAMBAYA choked up in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt. b) CALANTHA (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M F de Kock advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) BOB was ridden by Jockey C Habib (declared 4 January 2024 at 12H42). Jockey J Gates was charged with a contravention of Rule 21.13 in that he did not fulfil his riding engagement on BOB, thereby necessitating a change of Rider. Jockey J Gates signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R1000 was imposed. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None.
