THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DUKE ORSINO (D Ashby) reared in the stalls, was taken out, examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon and withdrawn, causing a delay. b) THUNDER FORCE (Y Ramzan) was stubborn loading and thereafter jumped awkwardly, losing one length. c) SHUNMYO (C Maujean) was nervous in the stalls and jumped awkwardly. d) COUNTESSOFTHESTARS (D Schwarz) was nervous in the stalls. e) MO FLOW (M Yeni), GIVE US A SMILE (L Mxothwa) and JET BUND (*KJ Lihaba) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start GIVE US A SMILE (L Mxothwa) and MO FLOW (M Yeni) brushed. b) In view of the performance of THUNDER FORCE (Y Ramzan), which raced green, gave ground to the field from the 800m and finished tailed off, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) In view of the report from the Starter regarding DUKE ORSINO (D Ashby), this colt's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and he is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as he proves to be tractable with a companion. (Suspension dates: 06/01/2024 to 12/01/2024 inclusive). DUKE ORSINO may not be presented for re-passing during this period. d) GIVE US A SMILE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised.
