THE STARTER REPORTED: a) A fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) SKY CAFE (C F Dicken) and WITCHWOOD (J Jacobs) were hanging in from the 300m. b) At the 200m ZULULANGA (T Godden) had to ease when awkwardly placed between WILL O ME (S Moodley) which rolled out and FLYING THE STAR (R A Venniker) which was hanging in. c) Shortly before the finish WILL O ME (S Moodley) was momentarily inconvenienced by SKY CAFE (C F Dicken) which rolled out. d) Jockey S Veale signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, (Appendix E; Guideline M), in that he as the rider of STING RAY misused his crop by striking this mare more than twelve times (17) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R20 000 and a suspension of not riding in races for a period of 7 days was imposed. (Dates to be advised). e) WITCHWOOD (J Jacobs), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M N Prinsloo advised (NS).
