Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CLOUD CHASER (JP van der Merwe) was restless in the stalls and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, TYPEFACE (O Noach) cast its right front shoe on the way to the start which had to be replaced, causing a delay. b) WINDRUNNER (A Domeyer) raced wide without cover in the early stages. c) At the 200m PASSCHENDAELE (R Fourie) had to be checked away from the heels of EPIKLEROS (G van Niekerk), which was hanging out and shifted out. Thereafter, approaching the 150m WOMAN'S WORLD (K Steyn) was brushed on the hindquarters by WINDRUNNER (A Domeyer) when carried outwards by EPIKLEROS (G van Niekerk), which continued to shift outwards. As a consequence, WINDRUNNER (A Domeyer) was briefly unbalanced. An Inquiry will be held into this incident. d) Jockey C Bantam reported that DESERT ROSE made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this mare. e) Jockey A Andrews reported that LUCY THE PINK did not stride out freely in running and he did not persevere with his riding from the 200m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. f) EPIKLEROS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SJ Snaith was advised. (SC) JOCKEY AND/OR EQUIPMENT CHANGES: a) R Fourie rode PASSCHENDAELE (declared 15h11 on 20240113) (Jockey R Danielson stood down by the course Medical Doctor. Rule 25.12 not applied.
