THE STARTER REPORTED: a) THE AFRICA HOUSE (S Moodley) and BARBARESCO (G Lerena) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) MAIN DEFENDER (C Habib) hung in in the concluding stages. b) Jockey S Khumalo reported that he felt something amiss with WYZEACT in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) In view of the performance of CHAMPAGNE COCKTAIL (M Yeni), (distance 8,75 lengths, betting 33/10), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) MAIN DEFENDER (C Habib), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer A P Peter advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) ROYAL EDITION was ridden by Jockey J R Syster (declared 13 January 2024 at 14H54). Stipes permission due to rescheduled race times and Jockey C Maujean's flight commitment to Durban.
