Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROSY LEMON (G Lerena) jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) PRINCESS KESH (*T Mayhew) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 1900m, MIDNIGHT CRYSTAL (C Habib) shifted out sharply for no apparent reason. b) Approaching the 100m, MIDNIGHT CRYSTAL (C Habib) was steadied momentarily in anticipation of running onto the heels of ROSY LEMON (G Lerena), which shifted out away from the crop and thereafter continued to roll out from the 300m. Jockey G Lerena (ROSY LEMON) appeared before the Board and was advised to take earlier corrective measures when shifting ground in races. c) In view of the performance of UNIVERSAL LOVE (C Zackey), which came under pressure at the 1000m and had failed to quicken in the straight, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Apprentice T Mayhew was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he, as the rider of PRINCESS KESH, misused his crop by striking this mare more than twelve times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Apprentice T Mayhew signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R3000 was imposed. e) PRINCESS KESH (*T Mayhew), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer H E Adamson advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) UNIVERSAL LOVE raced equipped with blinkers and without cheek pieces (declared 15 January 2024 at 09H11). b) MIDNIGHT CRYSTAL raced equipped with blinkers and without cheek pieces (declared 17 January 2024 at 17H55). c) ANNEWITHAN E raced equipped with a compression mask (declared 18 January 2024 at 07H26).
