Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) Fair start. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 150m AFRICAN TORRENT (JP van der Merwe), which was hanging out on the turn, had to be steadied briefly when tightened for room between TAMARISK TREE (C Zackey) and ROYAL WATCH (L Mxothwa). b) Jockey R Fourie reported that NIGHT RULER made an abnormal respiratory noise in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey B Fayd'Herbe was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of GAINSFORD he misused his crop by striking GAINSFORD more than 12 times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey B Fayd'Herbe signed an admission of guilt and was fined R4 000,00. d) CORONATION TIME, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GW Ennion was advised.
