THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MASTER FORESTER (R Munger) was slow losing one length. b) STALWART (K Matsunyane) and WILD AT WAR (P Mxoli) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) DANTONFROMSANDTON (P Strydom) shifted in sharply in the concluding stages, for no apparent reason. b) DANTONFROMSANDTON (P Strydom), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S G Tarry advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) STALWART was ridden by Jockey K Matsunyane (declared 19 January 2024 at 12H20). b) WILD AT WAR was ridden by Jockey P Mxoli (declared 20 January 2024 at 11H31). Jockey S Khumalo was charged with a contravention of Rule 21.13 in that he failed to inform the Stipendiary Board immediately he became aware that he was unable to fulfil his riding engagement, which necessitated a change of Jockey.
