Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MISS OTIS (D De Gouveia) and PINKY LEVINE (R Fourie) were slow into stride. b) FULL GO (S Brown) and MACTAVISH (C Maujean) were slow losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At approximately the 600m, DJ JUNIOR (R Danielson) had to steady when awkwardly placed on the inside of THE GREAT ROMANTIC (M van Rensburg), which hung in badly from the 1000m, proving difficult to assist. Thereafter, THE GREAT ROMANTIC (M van Rensburg) continued to hang in and had to be corrected on numerous occasions. Trainer L J Human was advised to take the necessary measures to improve this gelding's racing manners. b) Between the 200m and the 100m, POTTINGER (W Kennedy) was tightened for galloping room on the outside of FIRE LORD (K de Melo), which hung out from the 300m. Thereafter, Jockey K de Melo reported that FIRE LORD did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) Jockey R Danielson was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that he misused his crop by striking DJ JUNIOR more than twelve times in the entire race. Jockey R Danielson signed an Admission of Guilt and a fine of R 1,000.00 was imposed. When assessing this penalty, the Board took into consideration the number of times the crop was used (15) and Jockey R Danielson's recent record with regards to this Rule and Guideline (1). d) MISS OTIS (D De Gouveia), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M Azzie advised (GF). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) LEMME GO was ridden by Jockey J Mariba (declared 18 February 2022 at 12H54). b) THE GREAT ROMANTIC was ridden by Jockey M van Rensburg (declared 18 February 2022 at 15H58). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) LEMME GO raced equipped with aluminium bar shoes in front and alumites behind (declared 18 February 2022 at 11H10). b) FULL GO raced without a tongue tie (declared 19 February 2022 at 08H44). c) LIZADO raced equipped with pacifiers (declared 19 February 2022 at 08H44). d) MACTAVISH raced with a compression mask (declared 19 February 2022 at 07H17). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) FIRE LORD fatigued. b) PINKY LEVINE abnormal respiratory noise and blowing post race.
