Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) LAVA FIELDS (K Steyn), HAT'S LADY (D Ashby) and KAMARIA (L Mxothwa) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 200m VENETIAN MOONLIGHT (C Zackey) was carried inwards marginally by GLOBAL LADY (R Fourie), which shifted in away from the crop and had to be straightened. b) Leaving the 300m WINNING GRACE (*KJ Lihaba) was directed to the outside of TUNE AGAIN (Y Ramzan) to secure clear running. c) In view of the performance of VENETIAN MOONLIGHT (C Zackey) which, after being carried inwards at the 200m, tired quickly in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) Jockey Wes Marwing was questioned regarding his riding of STRING OF LIGHTS in the concluding stages where the Stewards pointed out to him that there appeared to be a hesitation in his riding. Mr Marwing conceded that he had misjudged the position of the finishing post and that there had been a momentary hesitation with his riding. The Stewards pointed out to Jockey Marwing that he is required to ride his mounts fully until the finish line but felt that his finishing position in this instance had not been compromised. The Stewards advised Mr Marwing to ensure that he is fully aware of where the finishing line is positioned and to ride to the finish in future engagements. e) Trainer K Mitchley was charged with a contravention of Rule 57.1.2 in that she failed to ensure that WINNING GRACE was presented in the security area at least 60 minutes before the official starting time of the second (2nd) race. Trainer K Mitchley signed Admission of Guilt and was fined R1 000,00. f) Trainer JVA Strydom was charged with a contravention of Rule 57.1.2 in that he failed to ensure that LAVA FIELDS was presented in the security area at least 60 minutes before the official starting time of the second (2nd) race. Trainer JVA Strydom signed Admission of Guilt and was fined R1 000,00. g) Trainer M Turner was charged with a contravention of Rule 57.1.2 in that she failed to ensure that ROADLESSTRAVELLED was presented in the security area at least 60 minutes before the official starting time of the second (2nd) race. Trainer M Turner signed Admission of Guilt and was fined R1 000,00. h) Trainer L Lotz was charged with a contravention of Rule 57.1.2 in that he failed to ensure that TUNE AGAIN was presented in the security area at least 60 minutes before the official starting time of the second (2nd) race. Assistant Trainer A Lotz, acting on behalf of Trainer L Lotz, signed Admission of Guilt and Trainer L Lotz was fined R1 000,00. i) GLOBAL LADY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
