Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) SUMMER OF DREAMS (E Webber) refused to load and was withdrawn, causing a delay. b) FOR ALL WE KNOW (C Maujean) and MAIDEN'S COVE (J Gates) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey D Schwarz (FIRE GLOW) sustained an injury in the parade ring prior to the running of this race, which necessitated a change of rider. b) UNITED EXPRESS (R Fourie) and BEAU KALA (*KJ Lihaba) shifted in between the 200m and the finish. c) Jockey C Zackey reported that he felt something amiss with IDABELLE. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. d) In view of the report from the Starter regarding SUMMER OF DREAMS (E Webber), this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended for 7 days in terms of Rule 61.6.10 and until such time as she proves to be tractable with a companion. (Suspension dates: 10/02/2024 to 16/02/2024, both dates inclusive). SUMMER OF DREAMS may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Race 6 contd. e) Jockey J Gates was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of MAIDEN'S COVE he misused his crop by striking MAIDEN'S COVE more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey J Gates signed an admission of guilt and was fined R5 000,00. In determining penalty, the Stewards considered Jockey J Gates record with regards to contraventions of this rule. f) Trainer GD Smith was charged with a contravention of Rule 57.1.2 in that he failed to ensure that MAIDEN'S COVE was presented in the security area at least 60 minutes before the official starting time of the sixth (6th) race. Trainer GD Smith signed Admission of Guilt and was fined R1 000,00. g) UNITED EXPRESS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM) h) AMAZING COLOURS, unplaced, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised.
