THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FIRU STAR (S Cele) was stubborn loading. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 300m EXCEEDER (L Mxothwa) rolled out and brushed TWICE THE MASTER (O Noach). b) While attempting a narrow run between TWICE THE MASTER (O Noach) and RED RACKHAM (JP van der Merwe) approaching the 150m CARAMEL FUDGE (C Bantam) had to be steadied when RED RACKHAM (JP van der Merwe) rolled in marginally. c) In the concluding stages EXCEEDER (L Mxothwa) had to be steadied briefly when close to the heels of SUMMER NIGHT CITY (C Zackey), which was hanging out and shifted out. Jockey C Zackey appeared before the Board and was advised to take stronger measures to keep his mounts on a straight course. d) Jockey S Cele reported that he felt something amiss with FIRU STAR and he did not persevere with his riding from the 300m. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. e) SUMMER NIGHT CITY, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AE Sands was advised.
