THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CLIFF TOP (R Fourie) jumped with its head up, losing one length. b) EVIES FIRST (*T Mayhew) was nervous in the stalls and jumped slow, losing one length. c) LEDELL'S ECHO (C Habib) stumbled leaving the stalls. Race 5 contd. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Prior to the running of this race Trainer Z Oosthuizen advised the Stewards that he had instructed Jockey C Maujean to hold up TIPSY TINA for as long as possible and to only use the crop as a last resort. This information was disseminated to the betting public via the on-course presenter. b) CRUISE CONTROL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised.
