Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DAWN OF GOLD (C Habib) was restless in the stalls, taken out, examined by the course Veterinary Surgeon, passed suitable to race and reloaded. b) STATE OF MIND (R Khathi) and BURN BABY BURN (C Maujean) jumped slow, losing one length. c) JAMBO SANA (J Gates) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Jockey R Fourie reported that he felt something amiss with SATURN MOON. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. b) In view of the report from the Starter, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to re-examine DAWN OF GOLD (C Habib). c) Jockey D Ashby was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of KAVIAN'S CARA he misused his crop by striking KAVIAN'S CARA more than 12 times (15) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey D Ashby signed an admission of guilt and was fined R7 500,00. d) KAVIAN'S CARA, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer TJ Laing was advised.
