Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) MANEKI NEKO (+L Geledu) was restless in the stalls. b) BOHEMIAN GROVE (+S Londile) and ONLY RED (+L Mojodina) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Leaving the 100m MANEKI NEKO (+L Geledu), which showed a tendency to hang in, was carried outwards marginally by PRANKSTER (+A Xabendlini). Trainer C Bass-Robinson lodged an objection on behalf of the 2nd placed horse MANEKI NEKO (+L Geledu) against the winner PRANKSTER (+A Xabendlini) on the grounds of interference in the latter stages. The Objection Board, after giving due regard to the evidence put forward, reviewing the patrol films and giving consideration of the margin of 0,5 of a length between the two horses concerned, was satisfied that MANEKI NEKO (+L Geledu) would not have finished ahead of PRANKSTER (+A Xabendlini) had this incident not occurred and therefore overruled the Objection. The Objection Board considered this objection to be unwarranted and declared the Objection fee forfeit in terms of Rule 67.7.3. b) Work Rider L Burke reported that he felt something amiss with PRINCESS VIRGINIE and he did not persevere with his riding in the latter stages. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) Trainer Gareth van Zyl was charged with a contravention of Rule 8.3.1 in that he failed to have available the registered colours of the owner/s of PRANKSTER. Trainer Gareth van Zyl signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R250,00. d) PRANKSTER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer Gareth van Zyl was advised. (TJ) e) MANEKI NEKO, the second-placed horse, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer C Bass-Robinson was advised.
