Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) RIVER DANCE (S Veale) and MISTER NIBBLES (J Jacobs) were stubborn to load. b) THE LODGE (C Maujean) stood, losing 3 lengths. c) THE SPECIALIST (D Daniels) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) RIVER DANCE (S Veale), DAPPER (C Zackey) and THE LODGE (C Maujean) raced green. b) At the 300m, CHINABERRY (R Fourie) was switched in to obtain a clear run. c) Leaving the 300m, SOHO STAR (N Patel) was bumped out on two occasions by HAVANA MOON (C Habib) which was carried out by DAPPER (C Zackey) which rolled out. A race review was called by a member of the Stipendiary Board which was followed by an Objection being lodged by Jockey C Habib, on behalf of HAVANA MOON, placed third, against SOHO STAR (N Patel), placed second, on the grounds of interference in the concluding stages. After considering the evidence in this matter and viewing the patrol video, the Board over-ruled the objection. In arriving at this decision, the Board considered that the interference between these horses was solely from the movement of HAVAVA MOON (C Habib) onto SOHO STAR (N Patel). Consequently, the Board over-ruled the objection and allowed the Judges' result to stand. Furthermore, Jockey C Habib's deposit was forfeited. d) In view of the performance of SAMUEL LONGSWORD (R A Venniker) (10.55 lengths, 2/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. e) CHINABERRY (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
