THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ALL THE TIME (R A Venniker) lost 1 length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) PREEMPTIVE STRIKE (S Veale) was hanging in from the 200m. b) BOM BOM (C Habib) was hanging out from the 100m. a) Jockey R Fourie appeared before the Board with regard to the poor performance of GIMME A RAINBOW (6.80 lengths, 11/2 in the betting) in this race. He explained that this gelding had taken an awkward stride at the 200m and changed stride on two occasions thereafter. In view of this report, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer C Hewitson will be asked to report back on the condition of GIMME A RAINBOW upon return to stables. b) Apprentice N Baboo (QUICK STAR) completed a satisfactory qualifying ride. c) ALL THE TIME (R A Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
