THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	AFRICA'S ROCK (D Schwarz) was stubborn loading.
b)	HAROLD THE DUKE (S Khumalo) was stubborn loading and jumped slow, losing two lengths.
c)	SAN QUINTIN (R Khathi) and LORD NELSON (JP van der Merwe) were slow into stride.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Leaving the 1000m SAN QUINTIN (R Khathi) raced onto the heels of CLIMATE CONTROL (C Maujean) and had to be steadied.
b)	Jockey R Danielson reported that he felt something amiss with WOODLAND RIDGE, which gave ground to the field shortly after the start and finished tailed off. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
c)	In view of the performance of AFRICA'S ROCK (D Schwarz), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
d)	Apprentice T Mayhew was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of ALADO'S PRIDE he misused his crop by striking ALADO'S PRIDE more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Apprentice T Mayhew signed an admission of guilt and was fined R4 000,00. 
e)	STORM COMMANDER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised. (LM)
