THE STARTER REPORTED: a) WYLIE JACK (C Bantam) was restless in the stalls, kicked the back gates and jumped slow, losing one length. b) ROCK ON TOMMY (X Carstens) got its head into the adjacent vacant stall and had to be corrected. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 300m LOVERS LANE (M Mjoka) raced in restricted galloping room between GRAND BAY (C Zackey) and BONANZA (D Ashby), which showed a tendency to hang in. Thereafter, approaching the 200m, LOVERS LANE (M Mjoka) was steadied and directed outwards when close to the heels of BONANZA (D Ashby). b) Jockey D Ashby (BONANZA) dropped his crop at the 200m. c) SWIFT ACTION (K Steyn) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr A Hanekom) d) HEAR MY VOICE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer PD Reeves was advised.
