THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PEARL IN HER CROWN (P Mxoli) was stubborn loading. b) ETHENSBEAUT (C Maujean) and MOUNTAIN HIGH (S Moodley) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 200m, MOUNTAIN HIGH (S Moodley) and ULTIMISSIMO (D Schwarz) were carried out by SONIC JET (R Munger), which shifted out sharply away from the crop and was immediately corrected. b) Jockey D Schwarz reported that ULTIMISSIMO did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. Trainer J S Roux was requested to report back to the Stipendiary Board on the condition of ULTIMISSIMO on return to stables. c) ACROSS THE POND (J Gates), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer S J Gray advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: a) ACROSS THE POND was ridden by Jockey J Gates (declared 7 March 2024 at 13H00). Stipes permission as Jockey C Zackey experienced transport complications. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: a) FATAL FLAW raced equipped with ear muffs (declared 5 March 2024 at 08H39). THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) ULTIMISSIMO examined post race, nothing obvious detected. b) ETHENSBEAUT brush wound right hind. c) RADIANT HEAT brush wound both hind.
