THE STARTER REPORTED: a) ROSE OF BAYEUX (M van Rensburg) and SISTER LIGHT (*KJ Lihaba) were nervous in the stalls, kicked the back gates and were slow into stride. b) SILVERY BLUE (S Khathi) jumped slow, losing one length. c) DAME OF FLAMES (KA Brewer) and UNITED EXPRESS (R Fourie) were slow into stride. Race 6 contd. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The Stewards noted that Apprentice KJ Lihaba (SISTER LIGHT) had ceased with his riding in the concluding stages. Apprentice KJ Lihaba appeared before the Board and was advised that while the Stewards had accepted that his finishing position had not been affected, he still has an obligation to ride his mounts, at least hands and heels, to the finish. b) Jockey X Ndlovu was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of UNYIELDING he misused his crop by striking UNYIELDING more than 12 times (14) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey UNYIELDING signed an admission of guilt and was fined R4 000,00. c) UNITED EXPRESS, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AC Greeff was advised. (LM) d) SISTER LIGHT, unplaced, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised.
