Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) DRAGON DRAGON (C Habib) was restless in the stalls and thereafter jumped awkwardly leaving the stalls. b) SILENT FANTASY (J Gates) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Approaching the 300m, DRAGON DRAGON (C Habib) was steadied when racing in restricted galloping room between the outside running rail and BILINGUAL (G Lerena). As a consequence, DRAGON DRAGON (C Habib) was switched in to continue its run. Thereafter, in the concluding stages, DRAGON DRAGON (C Habib) was steadied in anticipation of being awkwardly placed between THE NAVY LARK (D Schwarz), which rolled out, and BILINGUAL (G Lerena), which commenced to hang in and was straightened. b) Jockey J Gates reported that he felt something amiss with SILENT FANTASY in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this filly. c) In view of the Veterinary Surgeon's report concerning SILENT FANTASY, and in terms of Rule 93.1, this filly is suspended for 60 days from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of the National Horseracing Authority. Trainer S J Gray was advised. d) QUICK TRIP (K Matsunyane), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer J Crawford, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised (MS). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED: a) SILENT FANTASY bilateral epistaxis, recommended 60-day suspension. Trainer S J Gray was advised (MB). THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
