Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) BETULA (D De Gouveia) was restless and unruly in the stalls. The starting stall certificate for this filly has been withdrawn. Assistant Trainer N Titise, acting on behalf of Trainer S T Pettigrew, was advised (GT). b) NATIONAL STAR (*S Sosibo) was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) The start of this race was reviewed where it was established that BETULA in stall gate 1, was restless in the stalls, reared and dislodged Jockey D De Gouveia shortly before the gates were released. The Stipendiary Board was of the opinion that this incident was due to BETULA'S own behaviour and therefore, acting in terms of Rule 61.5.10.3, declared her to be a runner. b) At approximately the 1300m, NATIONAL STAR (*S Sosibo) made contact with BETULA, the riderless horse. c) JUST BE LEKKER (G Lerena) hung in from the 300m. d) Leaving the 200m, SEA ANEMONE (M Yeni) was carried in marginally by VIX PRINCESS (C Habib), which hung in from the 300m. e) In view of the Starter's report with regard to BETULA, this filly's starting stall certificate has been withdrawn and she is suspended in terms of Rule 61.6.10 for a period of 7 days and until such time as she proves tractable loading and jumping with a companion. Suspension dates: 17 March 2024 to 23 March 2024. BETULA may not be presented for re-passing during this period. Assistant Trainer N Titise, acting on behalf of Trainer S T Pettigrew, was advised. f) SEA ANEMONE (M Yeni), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M F de Kock advised (MduP). JOCKEY CHANGES: None. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER: None. THE VETERINARY SURGEON HAD NO REPORTS. SCRATCHED: a) HIGH ROLLER temperature (Trainer) (Rule 53.5 applies).
