Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	Fair start.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Shortly after the start, CHAMPONELLE (C Bantam) and DAIMYO (JP van der Merwe) made contact on a number of occasions. 
b)	The saddle on APACHE CHIEF, which pulled hard in the early stages, slipped forward approaching the 1200m, resulting in Jockey A Domeyer being unable to fully assist this gelding. This was confirmed by a Stipendiary Steward. Jockey A Domeyer (APACHE CHIEF) was dislodged in the pull-up area and was attended to on course by the paramedics. This precluded Jockey A Domeyer from being able to weigh in. The Stewards, acting in terms of Rule 66.2, were satisfied that APACHE CHIEF had carried the correct weight.
c)	The saddle on CHAMPONELLE (C Bantam), which proved difficult to settle in the early stages, slipped back in running. This was confirmed by a Stipendiary Steward.
d)	AZZURRI (A Andrews) proved difficult to settle in the early stages.
e)	Jockey R Fourie reported that MR BELVEDERE did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this colt.
f)	Jockey C Zackey reported that MOREMI GEORGE choked up in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
g)	Trainer PAW Botha was charged with a contravention of Rule 10.5.6.1 in that he failed to notify the local office of the National Horseracing Authority within two (2) business days that TAM'S KNIGHT had been gelded. Trainer PAW Botha signed an Admission of Guilt and was fined R 250,00.
h)	VOORLOOPERTJIE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer AE Sands was advised. (TJ)
