Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) CHIPOPO (*R Venniker) lost 1 length. b) CORAL COPY (D Dillon) lost 2 lengths. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) MANDALA EFFECT (D De Gouveia) and CLEAN SLATE (S Moodley) over-raced in the early stages. b) HEAD GARDENER (C Zackey) over-raced in the early and middle stages, was difficult to settle and raced wide in the back straight. c) CHIPOPO (*R Venniker) over-raced in the early and middle stages, was difficult to settle and as a result raced wide in the back straight and improved to race to the front. Thereafter, at the 700m, CHIPOPO (*R Venniker) began to hang out, shifted out, despite the efforts of the rider and made contact with the outside running rail at the 600m, dislodging Apprentice R Venniker. As a result of this incident, Apprentice R Venniker was incapacitated from weighing in. The Board acting in terms of Rule 66.2, deemed her weight to be correct. In view of this incident the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine CHIPOPO. Trainer P Gadsby acting on behalf of Trainer D Campbell appeared before the Board with regard to CHIPOPO's racing manners and was advised that should this gelding behave similarly in future, it may be suspended. d) NAPOLEON (A Marcus) was hanging out and shifted out in the concluding stages. e) NAPOLEON (A Marcus), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer M Trott acted on behalf of Trainer S J Snaith advised (HM). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) TRITON raced equipped with blinkers (22.02.22/8h36). RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) CORAL COPY : Abnormal respiratory noise. b) CHIPOPO : Nothing obvious detected. THE MEDICAL OFFICER REPORTED : a) Apprentice R Venniker was examined after being dislodged :- passed fit to ride. M.O Dr Pillay. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS.
