THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED :
a)	AREA FIFTY ONE (A Mgudlwa), PRINCESS DONELLY (K de Melo), MAQUETTE (*S Hlengwa) and NIKIYA (*R Venniker) all made contact leaving the starting stalls. 
b)	NIKIYA (*R Venniker) was hanging out from the 300m. 
c)	FLYING THE STAR (C Zackey) was hanging in from the 200m. 
d)	Apprentice K Brewer reported that AISLING took no interest in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. 
e)	In view of the performance of FLYING THE STAR (C Zackey) (6.85 lengths, 10/1 in the betting) the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine.  
f)	Jockey S Moodley signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 58.10.2, read in conjunction with Guideline M, in that he misused his crop by striking the horse OCTOBER SONG more than 12 times in the entire race. In assessing penalty, the Board considered the number of times (13) Jockey S Moodley struck the horse OCTOBER SONG, the distance over which and manner in which he used his crop, the fact that he won the race and his record (3) in relation to this Rule. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1500 was imposed.
g)	OCTOBER SONG (S Moodley), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer M D Miller advised (NS).
