THE STARTER REPORTED: a) FATED CHESTNUT (S Veale) lost 2 lengths. b) TRIP TO NEBRASKA (S Moodley) lost 3 lengths and thereafter was slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) TAMBALA (T Godden) was hanging out from the 350m. In view of the performance of this gelding (9.50 lengths, 7/1 in the betting), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. b) At the 150, THE GREEN GALLANT (M Yeni) which had rolled in, was bumped out by BASIE RAAKVAT (C Maujean) which initially was hanging out from the 350m, and then shifted out away from the crop. This resulted in THE GREEN GALLANT (M Yeni) becoming momentarily unbalanced. Jockey C Maujean appeared before the Board with regard to this incident. While the Stewards accepted that BASIE RAAKVAT was hanging out, Jockey C Maujean was nevertheless advised to take the necessary timeous corrective action when shifting ground in races in future. c) Jockey S Moodley reported that TRIP TO NEBRASKA did not stride out freely in the running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. d) POWER STAR (R A Venniker), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer D I Campbell advised (DZ).
