Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) GNARLY (O Noach) jumped awkwardly outwards. b) HAPPY DAYS (B Fayd'Herbe) jumped slow, losing one length. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) Shortly after the start, WOOD WORLD (S Veale) was bumped on the hindquarters by GNARLY (O Noach), which jumped outwards leaving the stalls. b) ALL OUT FOR SIX (R Khathi) over raced in the early stages. c) At the 250m, Jockey G van Niekerk (STATED) dropped his right-side rein, which he had some difficulty re-gathering. d) Jockey G Wright was charged with a contravention of Rule 58.10.2 (read with Guideline M on the use of the crop) in that as the rider of SOUND OF THE SEA he misused his crop by striking SOUND OF THE SEA more than 12 times (13) which was not warranted when considering the circumstances of the race. Jockey G Wright signed an admission of guilt and was fined R2000,00. e) MAURITIUS KESTREL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer B Donnelly, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised.
