Stipes Report
THE STARTER REPORTED: a) VICTOR RAIL (R A Venniker) caught it's leg in the partition of the stalls. Was removed, examined by the Veterinary Surgeon, passed fit to race and reloaded. b) DROGARATI (*K J Lihaba), PURPLE POWAHOUSE (A Mgudlwa) and COTTON RON (N Patel) lost 1 length. c) LIGHTNING JIMMY (S Khumalo) stumbled leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) In the concluding stages PURPLE POWAHOUSE (A Mgudlwa) was switched in to avoid running onto the heels of SAKHALA IS'CATHULO (M Yeni) which was hanging in from the 300m. b) Jockey S Khumalo reported that he felt something amiss in the running with LIGHTNING JIMMY. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. c) Apprentice K J Lihaba signed an admission of guilt for a contravention of Rule 66.4 in that as the rider of DROGARATI, he weighed in more than 1kg above the weight at which he was declared out. Accordingly, a penalty of a fine of R1000 was imposed. d) NDAKA (R Fourie), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer T Crawford acting on behalf of Trainer L Crawford advised (DZ). JOCKEY / EQUIPMENT CHANGES : a) WATCH TOWER raced equipped with blinkers (advised 10.04.2024/08h03). b) Apprentice S Hlengwa (GRANDDADDY PURPLE) weighed out at 52.6kg, 0.5kg over the carded weight. RACE CARD CHANGES / OTHER : a) Nil. THE VETERINARY SURGEON REPORTED : a) LIGHTNING JIMMY : Not striding out in front. THERE WERE NO SCRATCHINGS : DISQUALIFIED / DECLARED NON-RUNNER: a) None.
