THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED : a) At the 1100m POURSOMESUGARONME (R Fourie) was steadied momentarily when in restricted room between the inside running rail and STATUS QUO (T Godden), which rolled in towards POURSOMESUGARONME (R Fourie). b) LITTLEBLACKVELVET (*S Hlengwa) was hanging in around the turn and in the early part of the straight. c) Jockey R A Venniker reported that she felt something amiss in the concluding stages with UMHLALI. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine. Trainer M L Roberts was asked to report back on the condition of UMHLALI upon return to stables. d) LITTLEBLACKVELVET (*S Hlengwa), the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis.
