THE STARTER REPORTED: a) METAR (M Yeni) jumped inwards and made contact with HAWK CIRCLE (L Mxothwa) leaving the stalls. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) LEGAL THRILLER (R Fourie) raced wide without cover on the first turn and was allowed to race around runners and into a prominent position. b) Approaching the 200m LEGAL THRILLER (R Fourie), which had come to the end of its run, was steadied briefly when tightened for room between EMPIRE BLUE (X Ndlovu) and THE CHARIOTEER (M van Rensburg), which was hanging out. In view of the performance of LEGAL THRILLER (R Fourie), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) PEMBROKE (S Khumalo) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr M Bawden) d) PEMBROKE, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer K Mitchley was advised.
