THE STARTER REPORTED: a) THE WINTER LAKE (M Yeni) was stubborn loading. b) COOL WINTER (K Minnie) jumped slow, losing one length. c) CLIFF TOP (R Fourie), EVIES FIRST (C Maujean) and RENAISSANCE MAN (S Naidoo) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) After being slightly slow to begin, CLIFF TOP (R Fourie) was steadied when awkwardly placed on the outside of JEWEL CAT (KA Brewer) shortly after the start. b) Jockey M Yeni reported that THE WINTER LAKE made an abnormal respiratory noise and coughed post-race. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. c) THE WINTER LAKE (M Yeni) returned with a bilateral epistaxis due to an exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage and is suspended, for a period of 60 days, from racing in any race under the jurisdiction of The National Horseracing Authority of Southern Africa in terms of Rule 93.1. (Dr M Bawden) d) CRUISE CONTROL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer GD Smith was advised.
