THE STARTER REPORTED: a) PASHTUNWALI (M van Rensburg) jumped slow, losing one length. b) DESTINY'S ANGEL (M Yeni) and CHARLIE MALONE (S Naidoo) were slow into stride. THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: a) At the 300m CHARLIE MALONE (S Naidoo) was momentarily held up when close to the heels of SEA OF TEARS (S Khumalo). b) At the 200m SEA OF TEARS (S Khumalo) changed stride and shifted out when brushed by IRONTAIL (C Maujean). c) GUNSMOKE (D Ashby) was hanging out from the 200m. d) Leaving the 100m MEETATTHEWINDSOR (R Fourie), which had come to the end of its run, was steadied briefly when close to the heels of CHARLIE MALONE (S Naidoo). e) In the concluding stages, Jockey S Khumalo was unable to ride SEA OF TEARS to the finish when awkwardly placed between the heels of IRONTAIL (C Maujean) and WIND SOCK (*T Mayhew). f) Jockey X Ndlovu reported that HORSEFLY changed stride continually in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. g) Jockey D Ashby reported that GUNSMOKE did not stride out freely in running. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding. h) IRONTAIL, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer SB Kotzen was advised.
