Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	MELA STRENGTH (C Bantam) was restless in the stalls.

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	After leaving the parade ring correctly shod, MO LALAIKA (G Wright) cast its left front shoe on the way to the start which had to be replaced, causing a delay.
b)	In view of the performance of MO LALAIKA (G Wright), which raced wide on the turn and into the straight, the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
c)	Jockey K Steyn reported that GIFT OF GRACE, which was hanging out on the turn, had the bit pulled through its mouth, placing him at a disadvantage. 
d)	Jockey G van Niekerk appeared before the Board, was shown the patrol film and was advised of an incident shortly after the finish where, in the Stewards opinion, he may have pulled this gelding up abruptly. Mr G van Niekerk was advised that he should let his mounts down slowly for a sufficient distance and avoid bringing his mounts to an abrupt stop in future engagements.
e)	MONT LOISIR, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Assistant Trainer B Donnelly, acting on behalf of Trainer B Crawford, was advised. (SC)
