Stipes Report

THE STARTER REPORTED:

a)	Fair start.	

THE STIPENDIARY STEWARDS REPORTED: 

a)	Shortly after the start GREY SMOKE (X Ndlovu) shifted out slightly and made contact with TIMBAVATI RIVER (D Ashby) when awkwardly placed on the outside of the heels of DONNY TEE (Y Ramzan).
b)	At the 250m EUPHORIC (K Steyn) had to be steadied briefly when unable to secure a clear run between a tiring LIFE ON MARS (*T Mayhew) and AMERICAN DREAM (M Yeni), which rolled out slightly.
c)	The saddle on DONNY TEE (Y Ramzan) slipped forward in running.  As a consequence, the lead bag fitted under the saddle became detached at the 500m. On his return to the scale, Jockey Y Ramzan (DONNY TEE) weighed back in at 54.4kgs, 4.1kgs under the weight which he was declared out at. An objection was lodged by the Clerk of Scales in terms of Rule 66.4 which, after a hearing, was upheld and DONNY TEE was disqualified in terms of the provisions of Rules 68.2.11 and 69.7. Jockey Y Ramzan's equipment was examined by a Stipendiary Steward and was found to be in a satisfactory condition.
d)	Jockey M van Renburg reported that he felt something amiss with LT ALEXANDER. The Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
e)	In view of the performance of LIFE ON MARS (*T Mayhew), the Veterinary Surgeon was requested to examine this gelding.
f)	TIMBAVATI RIVER, the winner, was selected for the taking of specimens for analysis. Trainer TJ Laing was advised. (LM)
